Sigma customer service

Just read a post on a bird watching forum, a chap had updated the firmware on his 150-600 and it had stopped working with the latest Canon converter.
He contacted Sigma who looked into it and confirmed it was the latest firmware that had done it,then the normal statement that they could not guarantee Compatability with third party converters.

This is where in my mind the good service comes in,they said if he wanted to return his lens to them they would roll the firmware back to the previous version, i know of at least one major camera maker that would not have wanted to help.

Good for them, definitely above and beyond.

Sigma customer service has been nothing top notch for me in the past and I can say the same for Tamron customer service. When I think about Nikon's so-called customer service, it doesn't surprise me how little Nikon glass I have or that I rarely even look at the Nikon lineup when considering my next lens purchase.

Tamron has a rather delightful 3-Day Turnaround policy on repairs as well. THREE... DAYS... Are you listening Nikon? LOL... Of course you're not.

Gee. I wonder which company you might be talking about.

I took a Nikon lens in to a local repair shop that has been in business for something like 30 years. He spent 15 minutes with me talking out the possibilities, then told me to send it to Nikon. Nikon won't sell him parts. This, supposedly, to cut out the gray market repairs that "hurt" Nikon USA. The owner told me he works on Canon cameras and lenses all the time, and can easily get parts.

Tamron and Sigma are way more likely to get my business in the future.

Okay, rant over. :)

Its not too bad in the UK independents can get the parts.
