I have a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 which I find a fantastic lens for portraiture. I recently replaced my venerable Nikon D90 with a D5500 (so far seems like a fantastic move!)
Unfortunately when I put the Sigma on my new body, it didn't auto-focus :-( I was quite worried, b/c the lens is Just over 4 years old, bought in June 2013, just before the 4-year warrantee went into effect. Since the D90 is a body-focusser, whereas the D5500 requires AF-S or AP-P lenses, I was quite worried that I was in for an expensive repair. I called Sigma, and they told me that even though it is (just) out of warrantee, that they would update the firmware at no charge. So, I sent it back to them, costing $23.00 to ship and ensure for the purchase price. I got it back yesterday (5-day turnaround, from the serious boonies!) and it works! Hooray for Sigma!
