Does anyone know where I can get the new Samyang XP 14mm f/2.4 Manual Focus FX format lens with Nikon mount? The only ones I have seen for sale have Canon mounts.

For the kind of stuff I do a lot of an f/3.5 aperture is way too dark. Even when I had a 35mm film camera in the 1980s it came as standard with an f/1.8, the wide angles were f/2.8 or f/2.0. For astrophotography you need a wide angle lens with as wide a maximum aperture as possible. As I'm not good at Photoshopping 6 or 12 or 24 images into one, I need both wide angle and wide aperture. The Samyang offers both and is even wider than the Nikkor 14mm-24mm f/2.8 which I might otherwise get.

I do wish there were more manual focus lenses and split screen viewfinders in cameras. Then we wouldn't have to pay through the nose just to get what were historically not very bright lenses.

In case you're reading this in the US, Samyang = Rokinon.

Amazon has it. Make sure you get the one that is chipped for Nikon. I have never seen a 2.4 but the 2.8 I have owned. Great little lens. I shot in the dark with mine a lot. I would set it at about F8 and prefocus at about 6 feet and shoot away. Never worried about focusing since everything from about 3 feet to infinity would be in prefect focus. Had to be on tripod anyway so long shutter speeds did not matter.

Since you are in Switzerland? I am not sure what access you have to online merchants.

Thanks Don. The f/2.4 is one of the two new XP range of Premium quality, Manual Focus lenses from Samyang. The other is the 85mm f/1.2 which is pretty nice for portrait work I guess. They were only launched a few weeks ago. Last time I looked on Amazon was a month ago. I am cautious of buying from US suppliers though for guarantee reasons. I know for Nikon at least buying in the US does not necessarily mean you get a Worldwide Warranty.

Edit: The f/2.8 is the Autofocus version; the f/2.4 is the Manual version. Amazon only has the f/2.8. For more see here:

All the Rokinon or Samyang 2.8 ones I have ever seen have all been manual.

Where are you located? This would make it easier when offering suggestions on places to purchase. I use a Rokinon 14mm F2.8 for astro and love it. Be aware that the infinity is not sharp right at the end of the manual focus but a bit before, you will learn this when trying it out for the first time.
