AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm VS AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm

Hello, y'all. I am here yet again asking for advice. I found these two good short range lenses, one of them I will buy and use with my Nikon D7000. I am here to ask for your input on which one of these would be the better choice. Thank you.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR from Nikon

I've owned both, 16-85 is the better of the two, I really liked the extra 2mm on the wide end.

Big difference in price there.

The 18-55 is the basic kit lens and does a pretty good job. I have not shot the 16-85 but at $699.95 I would hope it would be a lot better.

have you considered the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR ? I just got mine in today and so far I really love it. I bought it as a refurb and that put the cost down to what the 18-55 costs.

I did, but I read better reviews for the 55mm lens.

I like the 16-85 too. Look around here you find some threads posted 16-85mm pics.

I have used both the 18-55mm and the 18-105mm lenses on my D90 and even though both are considered kit lenses I found that I liked the
18-105mm much more. I have never tried the 16-85mm lens but I have heard that it's much better than the 18-55mm lens and for approx $630
it had better be.

18-55mm - $200 new
18-105mm - $400 new - $200 refurbished
16-85mm - $630 new
