zoom?

i bought a nikkor 55-300, but i had found that to focus an object on viewfinder is hard since the image looks very small. Am i doing any thing wrong? any wrong setting? I tried auto and manual focus but there is not difference! did i got the wrong lens?

What camera are you using? Have you checked your diopter setting? Perhaps that needs to be increased so you are able to view things through the view finder. Is the issue only with this lens or have you encounter this with others also? Have you tried focusing using live view? Is the issue the same? Is the lens able to move freely or is it getting stuck at various focal lengths...We need more information to assist you.

Silly question - have you actually zoomed in on the subject, or do you mean the image in your viewfinder is too small?

If the view finder image is too small, then use live view, or even get a eyepiece/viewfinder magnifier like the DG-2 Eyepiece Magnifier from Nikon
