I know this is turning into old news, but I remembered I have a 2nd exif viewer installed. Some extra details... FILE PROPERTIES [ ./ ] Content-type: image/jpeg Size: 450402 bytes (439.85 KB) Last modified: Mon, 08 Sep 2025 00:22:59 GMT Dimensions: 2289x2079 pixels IMAGE META DATA Date: 2019-06-16 15:04:45 -0400 Creator: RICHARD GERMANY Make: NIKON CORPORATION Model: NIKON D850 Lens: 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6 Focal Length: 135mm, 135mm (35mm equivalent) Aperture: ƒ/7.1 Exposure Time: 0.0020s (1/500) ISO equivalent: 400 Flash Fired: No White Balance: Auto Distance: Infinite Software: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 13.1 (Windows) Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto) Exposure Bias: none Metering Mode: Matrix Focal Length: 135 Color Space: sRGB Focal Length (35mm): 135 LensModel: 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6 Preserved Filename: _DSC0518.JPG It looks like the recorded focal distance was at infinity. I am guessing that was a near-miss on focus and it should be just a bit shorter than that. Otherwise I cannot criticize the exposure choices much. I think I would have accepted a higher ISO with Auto-ISO active and taken a higher f-stop more like f/11. On my D750 I'm willing to take photos at ISO 3200 in some situations, ISO 1600 anytime.
