The internet has made it easy for geeks to talk tech about their hobby and turn it into something more important than what the hobby is really all about. With cameras, it's not about pixel peeping, it's about making great pictures, and that's something you know when you see it and not when you "need to examine it at 100% crop". On guitar forums it's about whose pickups you use, what strings, or even what cable you plug in with and not how you play or that you even can play. But it's hard to talk about photographs on a forum because it either turns into a shredding or an ass-kissing event over time, so it's easier to talk sh*t about equipment and why one thing is better than the other. And hey, I'm as guilty as the next guy for over explaining something instead of just moving on. I like Zach, I like his attitude, but I also think he sparks some of the same debate he likes to squash. Or at least talks a lot of apples and oranges. And Browncoat is right, the blog post is better than the video. My only question coming out of that is why would David Burnett want a 4x5 shot of that guy's ass?! ;) And dammit, you can be an artist and still love math!!
