I have received this message while shooting sport events 2-3 times last couple of weeks. Z6iii, 2 orignal Nikon EN-EL15C-Series Batteries,Nikon MB-N14 Power Battery Pack purchased 1 year ago. Nikon advised to clean terminals on batteries and in camera and battery pack. I had already compleated a cleaning as Nikon Support suggested. This past weekend same occurrence. Was shooting on monopod, between plays waiting for next play this error or message appears up. To correct I have to turn off camera, remove the battery pack and re-insert the battery pack and turn on camera. Usually starts back and all is good, until it happens again. Anyone else having any similar issues. Any suggestions for remedies?

Nikon has a rather picky algorithm for communicating with the controller chip on the battery pack for Z series. I have only had that message with the non-OEM cells I had been using without problems on my D750-D7000-D600 bodies. I still use them the in a D600.

I suspect there is a flakey controller chip on one of your EN-EL15c and it would require getting a new battery. Only way to figure which one would be to mark them and see which combination works without the error happening.
