Hey all. Only had my Z6III a few weeks. Only had a chance to use it on 1 job so far- a parade and Christmas Lighting event downtown Chicago.
So still trying to master the Auto focus modes and the array of custom button functions.
I am an event shooter mostly these days. Mostly indoors, available or with Flash. People moving about or speaking on stage. My standard event settings are a Custom WB for Avail. light and another for mix of avail w/flash. Frequently at 3200 iso. Lower when I can, but very comfortable @ 3200. Gives me lots of control on using all available if I can or balancing with flash fill.
Vast majority of these events are shown online or newsletters. Any of you who do this kind of work are familiar.
I'm sure some of you have seem my posts last couple weeks about configuring buttons for Preset WB. This is something I do at most every job. So it needs to be handy. Theres usually 3 main lighting scenarios at an event:
Mains stage- often professionally lit for video and nice looking set, breakout rooms with bad lighting, and reception areas for cocktails/networking/convention hall exhibits, etc. So I do my 3-4 Presets for those situations so as I move from room to room I can quickly set for that. Or choose Auto WB if mixed w/dayllight and it looks OK
I would love to see how everyone is configuring your Control buttons for events. and I will put together a list of what I've got so far - but its a work in progress.
There's an Event & wedding shooter from NJ on Youtube - Omar Gonzalez- who's got some great ideas on setup for event shooters.
And Steve Perry & Henry Hudson also have great ideas- but they are Wildlife guys so their particular needs are slightly different.
Also the reason I jumped to the Z6III was because I also recently got a Tamron 150-600mm ƒ5-6.3 lens also to use at events and will be regularly shooting at High ISO- 6400 and above. So any tips and advice getting the best out of the Z6III for this also welcome.
Anyway- I welcome your input!
