I've had a lot of fun with the 55-200mm, but I found that today it just wasn't the right lens. It could zoom way in, which was nice but not really necessary most of the time because they were setting the shots up for me and I could get fairly close. The real problem was that I just couldn't get wide enough in certain situations. I had to back away so I didn't remove extremities in the shots. I feel like a 16-85mm or 24-70mm would have been a much better lens for this duty. Other than that, it was a great time and I came away with some good stuff.</p><p></p><p><a href="https://flic.kr/p/mKg5HH" target="_blank"><img src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3677/13616687243_d6e5795bf9_b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://flic.kr/p/mKfWM4" target="_blank"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7445/13616660525_0c745d92d8_b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://flic.kr/p/mKgdfD" target="_blank"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/13616712585_c6d57bfd12_b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://flic.kr/p/mKgbbt" target="_blank"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2888/13616705615_fcd997b290_b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://flic.kr/p/mKi1ry" target="_blank"><img src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3788/13617063074_0046071314_b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p></blockquote><p></p>
April 3 I was looking for some good shot opportunities in town today when I drove by the skate park and saw a bunch of guys there. I decided to stop there and try my hand at some action shooting with my 55-200mm. Now, action shots aren't exactly the strong suit of the D3100, as it has a really slow burst rate and a tiny buffer. I did pull it off, but I really had to focus on anticipating the action. I walked out there with the camera and everybody got really excited. They started suggesting different angles for me and showing off different tricks. They were totally playing to the camera, and it was brilliant. They were as interested in getting me the shot as I was, which was really cool. My only difficulty was the lens. Other than that, it was a great time and I came away with some good stuff.
