It would snap my wrist off holding my heavy D300 or D700 out there on the end of that stick! Lol Might snap that stick even! Lol :D

Use a monopod with a tilt head. Just about the same thing. Good luck with it Bill

Just reading a bit more about the selfie stick,

The Selfie Stick weighs only .41 lbs. and can carry a camera with a weight of .88 lbs

so no putting your DSLR on it.

Since selfie sticks are the topic, anyone has one that they can highly recommend that can accommodate a point and shoot camera?

I've gotten 2 as gifts from friends. Sorry I can't remember the brand but I can tell you one important thing to look for. The telescoping tubes should have a machine pressed "V" running the length of the tube. That V channel keeps the telescoping tubes from accidentally rotating (making your camera flop over).

Other than that they're all pretty much the same.

Roger. Thank you for the tip. :)

No, as long as you had it attached to the selfie stick with a built in umbrella (Nikon sells it as a $300 accessory to the $50 stick). If not, you're screwed.

If you're going to buy a selfie stick, make sure it's of high quality and cost over 400 dollars. Anything else is a POS and should not be used no matter what your selfie stick budget is.

Absolutely! and stay away from grey market sticks! They do not carry the USA warranty and could fold on you causing injury. It'll poke your eye out and you'll have to wait for the X100 model to be silently released for a free replacement.
