Would Like opinions on the Nikkor Micro AF 70-180 mm F/4.5-5.6 D ED Lens

Good Morning Everyone,

I am considering buying the referenced lens. I am wondering about the sharpness and quality of construction. I would very much appreciate any and all input of people that have used this lens. I will be using it with a D800 in a studio.

Personally I would go with a fixed focal length micro Nikkor like the 105 mm 2.8G to make full use of the resolution of the D800 sensor.

AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED from Nikon

or my dream macro lens...

AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF-ED from Nikon

Granted, this 70-180 will be more convenient in terms of framing and not having to move around as much. But invariably the fixed focal length lenses will be sharper, especially when you consider the sheer number of elements and groups this lens employs.
