Working on Manual Control - Opinions or tips?

Hello,

I've been reading books and playing around with my new toy for a little over a week now. I figure that it was time to test my understanding of exposure and my ability to use full Manual mode.

This shot was taken on the exterior of The Dakota in NYC. The sun was extremely bright, but the railing and the sculpture were shaded under scaffolding. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips. All assistance and comments are appreciated.

May be just a tad underexposed as it looks like there might be some detail loss in the shadows.

On those extra attachments, you can remove them by editing the post, choosing Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments.

1/125 might have been it for that shot. Else, shoot in RAW, start learning how to post process so you can correct the little things even if you under or over expose just a bit. From my experience thus far, seems to be better to underexpose a little than overexpose.
