Winter feeding station ideas

In the UK its getting to that time of year,so i thought i would post some tips i find useful,if you have any others please add them.

Peanuts an obvious choice but i put mine through the blender so the birds have to stay and feed instead of flying off with a nut.

Peanut butter spread into the bark of a tree will attract and keep squirrels

A whole suet from the butchers wrapped in chicken wire and nailed to a tree will attract woodpeckers.

And off course fresh clean water.

I melt a cup and a half of dripping and add 1/2 cup each of bird seed mix, oats and barley. Let it set in smallish containers (I use those little dessert things - can't think of the name) and then when set remove and place in a muslin bag that the birds can pick through when hung at the feeding station. Works well.
