Winter Beach Shots

First shots with my new D7100. I'm still getting used to it. A lot different from my D5000. Took some shots this past weekend at the beach. The sky was somewhat cloudy so I messed around with the Graduated Filter in Lightroom. Just wondering if I'm on the right track or not...

good start. If you don't have The Nik Collection you might want to check it out. It does amazing things with sky shots.

I really like what you were able to do to the sky with that. Right now I'm working with Lightroom. Once I get the handle of that I will move to Photoshop. I know sometimes messing with the clarity in Lightroom can bring out the clouds, but it didn't seem to help with the photos I took that day.

looks like you have a dirty sensor..spot on right side about an inch from the top, might want to get it cleaned,I have the 7100 and I love it...

I originally thought that was a spec from a spot removal that I did. But I went back and looked at a few other pictures and I still see it...I'm not home so I'm looking at the pictures on my flickr on my phone. I'm going to take a better look when I get home. If it is a dirt spot on the sensor should I try that auto clean function in the camera or take it back to Adorama and have them clean it?

the auto clean might work, but if its brand new to you,I would take it back and make them clean it

Quick update, I went out this past weekend and the spot is still visible. Even after changing the setting to auto clean when I turn the camera off it's still there. Looks like my next trip is back to Adorama...

Rather then start another thread, I decided to just post this question here...I took this shot over the weekend and while I really liked it at first, I'm not sure how I feel about it now. I'm thinking I should crop some off the top or the bottom, preferably the top, to shift the horizon out of the center...any thoughts?
