Of course, the 35-70 has the reputation of being one of the all time sharpest zooms, so, guess to be expected. Part of it might just be the quality of the D800 is really stressing the 24-85 lens.  I do like the range and the way it feels on the D800, but in the end, it is the image quality that wins out, so, I'll use the old lens and carry the 20-35 in a pouch, instead of have a single lens solution. Verdict is still out, I'll live with the 24-85 a bit longer before giving up on it.</blockquote>
