I am such a lens junky,, only because I do love opening up a box,

Often when I travel,, I strive for the lightest kit possible, lately, I have been traveling with primes lens, like the 20mm, 35, mm 50 or 55, and
maybe a longer tele.

I can toss the lens into cargo pants. or ,, a small short range zoom. and a tele, I can't stand a lens pack pack, yes, I have those, a few,
but I find them soo awkard, to open up, and grab a lens, I have picked up a fishing vest, but seems a bit nerdy.

I am pulling for Nikon to come out with a DX mirrorless,,, but,, no signs yet!, until then, I have been use a NEX7, I know love the Nikon
SLRs, but honestly, look at all the folks switching to the Fuji XT100,, and X10,, it is really interesting to handle the X10, it really reminds
me sooo much to an old Nikon FE2,, with the speed on the dial, and aperature on the lens. I have mixed feelings on this, I kinda like
the spin dials for aperature/speed on the body, and only focus with the lens. but,, it is very pure.

I wish there was a magic lens, that covered 10-300 and no larger then 2 inches, but physics so no.

on megapixel, I have changing my views a tad. I love/ed the D800 for the 36 million pixel sensor. When the 800 first came out it was a HUGE
leap forward, and really magical,

since then, there has been a whole slew of 24 Meg cameras, and now that I have a couple at this range, I must say, I really like the 24 meg
range. First, I am amazed how sharp my shots have been with ZERO sharpening. Most of my pictures now skip sharpening, while often
with my 800, I often sharpen some (which effectively reduced the pixel worth), Also, the noise at 24 Meg sensor has been outstanding.
Again, sometimes, I still am surprised on the amount of noise on the 36 Meg sensor.

So.. perhaps the 24 Meg is the best tuned range for today's SLRs and the ability of lens to resolve across the widest range of shots.

don't get me wrong, a well controlled light, and perfect condition, the 800 produces sharp shots with reasonable noise. but get to more
tougher conditions, and the higher pixel sensor seems to suffer.

any,, just observations,

keep shooting,
