ah,, star bursts, course the shape varies depending on the number of blades, and the shape of the blade even, but it does vary from lens and lens an so you have to vary and compare to see which lens produces the most pleasing star in your own eyes, Some people hate them others love them,, course, I make pictures for my own enjoyment, so,, I do like them. I was happy with my newest lens,, a 24-85 3.5-4.5 lens, crank up the Fstop, and this lens produces a nice starburst. I am really liking the new version of this lens, My older one was getting a lot of dust, and was pretty beat up so,, I tried to get a replacement, but ended up getting the newer version as an upgrade by the vendor. and well, I am glad. I find the new 24-85 a perfect match for the D800, really nice balance and size. As some might know, I loathe over size lens, and so, I find this one perfect, and plenty sharp. If I want really fast lens, then I'll throw on a prime of which some mine go down to 1.2 (now that is fast), but 1.4 is plenty fast. oh speaking of lens, I really am liking my ancient 180 2.8,, it is slim and fast . so,, I can toss it in a small belt bag off to side, so, a super sharp, tele right at hands reach. oh,, an the 24-5 slides into the same pouch. anyhow, play with star burst and see what you can create.
