amazing how fast this year has flown,, This year I have not been doing the daily blog, but nobody has commented..

Last night,, I ordered one of the last Nikkor 24-85 ED AFS lens, Nikon has released a newer version, but with more bulk and
cost,

I love this old lens, and my version is really getting some wear and tear. Course it did not help that while switching out of
te 14-24, I dropped this lens 3 feet onto a concrete siide walk. Chipped the filter ring a hair, but lens survived just
fine, and this is with what was an el cheapo lens,,

So, I found one still in stock, couple hundred dollars less then the newer version and ordered!,, I want to keep this lens
in my bag, course won't use until my old one wears out, and no telling how long that is going to be.

oh,, an the 14-24,, a put down on ground inside a bag, and already it is showing stiffening with the zoom. This is
a fantastic lens, but really Nikon, it is a flawed design , way way way too delicate. Anyone using this lens
needs to handle with great great care.

oh the price I paid for the new "older version" 350 dollars.

An update, Surprise Surprise, Surprise, what was in the Box???? the VR version!! I doubled checked the order, and yup,, it shows and describes the older
lens, with the discounted price, what got shipped to me was the newer version VR version,, I suspect it is a Gray Market version, but, I am not complaining,
I have bought Gray market versions of lens, and had good luck. So, Now I will be able to compare the two, Yes, its bigger, but, still a brand new lens
for 350 dollars VR 24-85 (current price is 600 dollars),, I am keeping it.

update, this lens lives on my D200 keep in car camera, it is just the right partner for the D200 flex camera.
