It is interesting,, I still have a collection of old film cameras, from my first Nikkormat,, a great camera, still mint condition
and still functional of course,, to my First Fm to FE, FA (a Gem),, to my favorite F3 along with my more auto 6006,

So,, I appreciate the mechanical feel of the old cameras, and then,, Nikon does something strange with the new DF camera.

Strange,, timing,, to come out with such a retro camera, I have mixed emotions to whether or not I would want to even
try to return to the old rotary metal controls on top,, its like why, but I do like the old metal body.

in a weird sort of way,, its clever, its like let's give us a D4 quality sensor in a FM2A like old frame..

Now,,, ok,, here is a question, WHERE is it built. If it is still built in JAPAN,, then kinda cool, like turning on an old part
of the factory, almost imagine, old Nikon technicians, tears in their eyes as they lovingly but together the mechanical marvel.

or.

is it just a cheap copy of the past, manufactured in some vast building in China with an utra young, uncaring factory working
trying for any type of better life.

I wonder.

anyhow.. I'll have to check one out in person,,

and the answer is -> Made in Japan!! I saw a top view, and sure enough it is built in Japan,, this really is a true FE like body,, and well pretty darn
cool, a D4 for a reasonable price,, now if the price was say 2200 dollars definitely a buy, at 2500,, high price, and at its current price, well really for
serious collectors, but in 15 years (assuming this is a flop, and no one buys), then this camera could be worth a fair amount years from now.

If I did not have other serious expenses, this would be so fun to buy,, and yeah,, I would get the chrome version.

course honestly,, anybody really buying a modern camera would better suited with either ,,, 610 - less money great sensor,, or
frankly,,
imo.. best DSLR today - 800e,, (I have the 800), but the 800 family is just that great, solid, features, awesome awesome sensor).

I would not buy one (DF), because who needs another dust collector (like my old film cameras),, because in the end, I know I will stick to my
newer cameras

and,,

laughs, who wants some kludgy dial on top for speed, the modern front and back dials work ... well perfectly.

ergos the D7X00 series, D600 series,,, or D800 are fine.

I know the 600 users are sore over Nikon for the 610 fix a problem, and not give them an upgrade coupon, shame on Nikon,,

so,, the camera I really want Nikon to make..

DX (based on 7000 or 7100 DX sensor) ultra compact with !!!! dial control for speed/aperatue,, and a decent built in zoom with little distortion
and sharp sharp sharp,, PLEASE

simple control, ultra high quality,, and shallow dof when needed!
