Seventy seven such a cool number,, course ,, ask me that someday when I turn 77,,, and no,, that is still a long way away,, I am still steaming about Adobe decision to rent a software.... mostly due to cost. I have now upgrade 3 times in 12 years,, so about every 4 years. Why did I upgrade... because I thought I just had to have the lastest version.....NO! actually due to either two reasons,, new computer or new camera. but mostly because of NIKON! and their pain in the neck changing of the Raw format every single f...g camera version,, Same old story every time, you but that nice new bundle of joy, and try to open the RAW... and there Nikon goes again,, invalid Raw format.. and you would think you could just get a patch for adobe, but,, NO again,, they rope you into buying the upgrade Now I am not totally against upgrades for software, a couple hundred dollars every 3-4 years for quality software is ok. but that is the point,, I spend 200 dollars every 3 years.. and now Adobe wants 600-720 dollars every year! so,, 1800 dollars versus 200 dollars... totally unreasonable. I could request a teacher version but, a stretch, and what are the restriction? lets say for some weird stretch, that the pictures become wildly successful, and then adobe puts a restriction order on you because the photos were edited with a teacher version not for selling of the edited photos??? Often the cost reduced versions put silly restrictions in exactly those areas. Doesn't effect the casual user, or even the person that sells a print here or there, but only those that really succeed enough to attract the corporate sniffers. What will I do, well nothing for now, My computer is new enough, and I am convinced that the D800 will be all I need for quite a few years, so, for now,, adobe can have their rental system, but not from me! maybe,, we need a boycott movement to send a message.. lower the price! What is a fair price.. simple: Once you have a legal version on your box, like my copy of CS6, then 10 dollars a month for all future upgrades,, this is 50% more then my historical rate for buying upgrades. first time users: 50 dollars a month for the first year (to meet the super high sticker price of 600 dollars), followed by 10 dollars a month from that point on. COME ON Adobe.. . be nice.
