The 80-400 is a hair less sharp, but the D800 has enough margin that a bit of sharpening makes still awesome images, and I really the reach and or flexibilit. I think it will be an awesome Vegas lens. Bit large, but I don't mind. I keep it in a small backpack when I want ot be less obvious.</blockquote>
