So good to carry a pocket camera backup,, one never knows,, Well,, actually, for the first time ever, I had a Nikon Camera fail.
I got the Classic shutter failure on my D5000. I got this one as a great Deal, and kept it as my compact SLR for when I might want a camera, or want to travel light. I also like the fold around display for throwing the camera in the camera bag.
but honestly, I never liked the shutter sound. Of course the really musical shutter should is from the old film cameras like an of the FM/E/F1-4 series. tough
the D700/d800 shutters still retain some of the old Nikon Shutter sound,, but each generation is reduced.
7000 is ok,, but does not sound as robust, and the 5000 was almost silent.
So, back to Nikon it goes, I am going to have to write a letter, and send in the receipts/warranty card, no,, I forget to send, but the
camera is only 7 months old,, so,, well within the warranty.
This will be interesting if Nikon honors the warranty, to me, it should not be an issue, box code, warranty card, sales receipt, but... they may be slippery and go with the OH NO,, you did not register in 7 days,, bad customer, bad..
but,, I hope they honor, and fix their quality control failure on this camera (especially, since I have only shot maybe 1000 pictures with this camera).
oh,,, and back to the opening,,, the coopix water proof,, did great as a backup. and so slim,, you don't notice it when not in use.
Less control, and slightly less detail (well compared to my d800), and most of the shots have incredible DOF due to the focal length of the lens. but,, careful sighting, can get nice shots.
