ah,, lens... and the quest...
I actually wore out (and sometimes I am a bit rough with gear),, my beloved 35-70 2.8 ,,, so many ultra sharp pictures with this lens,, and a perfect match for my D800..
I have been living with my 24-85, an ok solid lens,, but,,, something just not quite as magical.. is it good,, very,, but..........
I toyed with the 24-70 2.8,,, yes sharp,, but bulky and well so darn expensive...
So,, you guess it,, replacing my 35-70 with ............... a 35-70 2.8..
I love my 20-35 / 35-70 2.8 combo lens... for my D800. I try other zoom combos,, but,, these two lens consistently produce the goods.
maybe.. someday a 24-70 2.8,, but frankly,, I would rather invest in the 14-24 for something that extends my range, versus replacing what already works
