Well, time sure flies, I just got my 1 year notice of being on Nikonites site for a year! Seems like yesterday as the song goes.
I have enjoyed the first year, reading entries, tips, and now my daily blog. My gear has added a few things during the year, such as the D5000 (due to a tip here on this very site) with the 18x200 lens. Also added the 24-85 and 80-400 which I have been pleased with.
Gear has reached close to steady state. The D800 is over a year old now. I think about 15 months, with zero issues. It is clearly my favorte of my cameras, but just edges out the rest.
Which is the lesson of cameras now, they are all good. the difference between my 5000 to 800 is minute (well in picture quality,, in features the gulf is wide).
I have grown to really like the 24-85 on my D800, this is almost the perfect range. I throw in my ancient 200 F4 when I am traveling light for a bit of range. The beauty of the pixels of the 800 is the ability to crop a bit,, so more flexible in the composition field.
The beauty of the 7000 is features per pound.
and the beauty of the 5000 is that it so darn light and compact.
Maybe, for collection purposes down the road, I'll pick up a used D3 (like when a D5 is out), but I just don't quite see the place in my lineup for these larger cameras, battery life has gotten to the point that I can go a whole weekend, and carrying a spare is no big deal.
well,, onto to hopefully another year.
