Why Nikonites?

Been checking out the dialogue on some other photo sites. I know, it is hard to believe but there are other sites. Could not get over how rude and insulting some of the posters get with each other.
Not to mention how much bad information and political rants that are allowed. They don't appear to have any effective moderators. I can do political rant with the best of them but photo forums are not the place for them.

One of the most egregious posts I encountered was someone telling a newbie that their news D3300 was not a good camera and they would not do well with it. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?
I do not know anything about the D3300 and probably never will. But this much I know; all modern Nikon dslr's are light years removed in features than dslr's of even a decade ago and any person with a decent lens and a good photographic eye will be able to coax great images from them and who in their right mind would attempt to discourage a new recruit to our ranks.

So I will stick with Nikonites, a community of devoted camera buffs who openly advise, share with, and encourage each other. And I am ready and willing to contribute if necessary to keep this site open, although I probably won't buy one of the t-shirts.

I am sure it is a great t-shirt. I just normally do not wear clothing with logos. Now I might buy one for a friend and make him wear it. Let me give that some thought.

IMO Nikon Cafe is the 2nd best place for all of us, but their focus organization is a bit short of stellar. Body discussions get crammed into 2 threads making it a clusterf**k of mixed information, etc, but the community is pretty good.

Here we indeed seem to have the best of all worlds.

As a Pentax and Nikon user I touch on a number of forums. Nikonites remains one of the friendliest and supportive there is. Everyone has an opinion, but no-one puts another down for having it. And that D3300 story is heartbreaking - it's likely to be a total newbie who has spent savings to get onto the DSLR trail and is now wondering whether they've done the right thing. It's a camera far more advanced than anything the amazing photographers of the past had - just imagine what you can do with it.

This is the best photo forum i have ever come across,i know my limitations and the limitations of my gear (although i try to get beyond them),the one thing that doesn't have any limitations is my desire to take pictures, that aspect of my photography is supported and encouraged on Nikonites.i watch other forums in fact i belong to another 38 posts in a year that's how involved i want to get with them.
On this other forum i see bird pictures that are absolutely cracking pose, detail, lighting ect but some smart ar$e will post a 3 or 4 worded quip that makes you think what an ignorant wank@r,fortunatly we dont find our selves over populated with this kind of person and when they do pop up they are dealt with in a quick and effective manner and dont stay long,
The tone of our forum is mainly due to the moderators but also the members who are helpful and supportive, hope it never changes.
