I don't do weddings so I usually shoot A and control my shutter by defining the auto-ISO depending upon what I shoot and compensate that with EV. When I occasionally shoot manual at night, it does annoy me since the light kills my night vision each time. I don't know if this was happening on the D800 but the "touch button to light LCD" is an annoyance the D3300 (and maybe D5300) had too. Maybe they just continued the new tradition. The fact the D750's EV isn't disabled in manual is strange too. It doesn't do anything but you can still change the compensation and it'll show up in the EXIF.
