Why can't I make any posts?

This is a test to see if this post shows up on the fourm- I have tried several posts now and none are showing up. Can somebody explain what the issue is to me?

Well, it would be nice if you filled out the rest of your profile, so we know where you're from, what camera you have, etc etc.

If you fill out your profile, the knowledgeable members would be able to help answer your questions better.:)
It would be hard for them to help when there may be facts you haven't shared.

Are you aware that the slot on your computer that takes SD cards will also take the required quarter for your first post?
No quarter, no post. You are usually informed of this after you have COMPLETELY filled out your profile.
Hope this helps.

Again sorry all- I like the site so far and appreciate the help but I don't own a DSLR camera right now and I don't like to share personal information online. Again with all due respect besides sharing equipment data I don't see how knowing where I live, what I do for a living, what my hobbies are, how much I make for a living ;) will be value added to anybody- honestly I don't beleive that is anybody else's business. IF I am on this site for a logn time and make some friends I might share some info but for now I like to keep things blank and again I am not sure how that impacts anybody's ability to help me with questions like "is a camera bundle a good deal or not"....

May I ask why you are so interested in my profile being filled out and why you are making smart comments to a person that is brand new to the site??

Almost any forum will ask you to fill out your profile. A forum is like a community. we come here to share our knowledge, to get help learning and to meet people who are interested in the same thing we are. Your profile is not just personal info like where you live and your hobbies. It is also a way to help the other members to get you help as quickly as possible when you need it. The Type of camera, lenses, experience level, and type of photos you prefer to take all make a big difference in what advice that should be given.
Plus a lack of info in a profile also can indicate a spammer, and they are a huge problem for all members in any site.
I hope this helps you understand forum sites a bit better. :)

Where you live (what part of the planet) determines what answers we give to questions like "is this a good deal" or" where do you think I should buy this". Prices differ all over the world...even all over the States! What sells for $500 in California may sell for $800 in New York!

How much money you make? None of my business, and frankly, I don't really care! It's not part of the profile.

What you do for a living? Again...don't care. Your hobbies? The only one we're interested in is your photography hobby. What you do with your spare time is your business.

Take a look at my profile that shows up on the left, under my avatar and name; where I live, my experience, and what cameras I have. That's all we want to know. Everything else is your business.

As for the smart comments, well.......as previously stated, forums are a drawing card for a lot of spammers and one timers. We like to weed those out before we give out any useful information...know what I mean? :) And of course, some comments are meant to be on the humorous side. We like to have fun here and enjoy ourselves. We all get along. After awhile, you will, too. A thick skin is a prerequisite in getting along in here, but it's worth it. :)

As I stated in my post I don't have a DSLR camera yet- I joined to get some info and find out what the best deals were. Not sure how my location really helps with deals- we live in a very digital world and especially when it comes to electronics people don't buy based upon location- they buy based upon the best internet deal- the internet has leveled the cost field in the electronics game.

I am not a spammer and trust me I have used many a fourm board in the past- I actually ran a fourm on aquariums in the past and never did I feel the need to have everybody on the site post all their data- if they wanted to no problem. IF I needed to know something abotu them to help them answer a question I would ask in the post- it was not a big deal. And in the case of this site the only questions I ahve asked were how to post cause for a few days my posts would not show up and then the only other post was to find out if a deal I saw on EBAY was a good value or not...

WE have people come on all the time after they have put something on EBAY and ask the same thing you did. IS this a good deal? they do it to get people to look at that posting on EBAY. We are not saying that about you only that we see that all the time. It that is among you first post it will get automatically moderated and will not show up to the rest of the forum. I also don't think asking you where you are from is a big deal. We are not asking for your home address but at least the State or country is not a big deal and many times that does make a difference on how we answer you. Ask some of out great members from India. That can't get the same deals we do sometimes because of shipping charges so the answers to them might be different.

Asking people for help and being so defensive when they ask you something is not a great way to get started.

This was the original post in this thread. I have no idea how a members profile can help answer this particular question.

I don't have the answer myself, but it would have been nice to see one of the veteran members post a useful reply to this particular thread. Fish not included :)

Just my $.02

I guess you didn't notice the irony of this thread. The fact that you read the post means he must have found out what he needed to know to post. And if he hadn't figured out the answer we wouldn't know about it because the post wouldn't be there to read. :D

I saw it as a new user that was experiencing trouble posting and was looking for assistance.
While, yes, it's obvious at least one post worked for the user, they were experiencing an issue of some kind and Fish was the only one to even lend any type of assistance.

Your right, I should have asked if he was still experiencing the same issue he posted about when I first posted. For that I truly appologize to you Jasno999.
