What value can there really be to a 40 MP phone- or watch-based camera? Is it realistically possible for such a device to have optics that are good enough to make such a high-resolution sensor worthwhile?
It seems very odd to me, given that Nikon's highest-resolution DSLR is 36 MPG, and most of the rest are 24 MP, and that seems to be at the top end of the scale as far as most DSLRs go. Surely, the optics available for use on a Nikon DSLR must be far superior to those that you'd ever find in a phone- or watch-sized camera.
