White balance card vs white balance lens cap

Hi fellow Nikonites,

I am getting the grip of my Nikon D5100 and enjoying taking pictures. I feel like I need to master the white balance on the camera and not sure if I should either buy a White Balance cap or a white balance card. This is so I can set the white balance and take even better pictures.

Which of the two, do you think is the best to use?

I use a card with white on one side and 18% gray on the other. It comes in very handy and is small enough to shove in a camera bag. It is just conjecture on my part but I think the cap may get dirty with use and depending on the type of plastic, may yellow with time.

I use the expo disc, similar to the cap, but neither the card, cap, or white card will always be perfect every time. I most of the time use expo disc and in between uses it is stored in the case.
