If you already have the 35mm f/1.8G, you've got a great lens to start out with. It doesn't have much reach, but it's fantastic at what it does. Whenever I take a trip I take two lenses with me: the 18-200mm VR and the 35mm 1.8G. The 18-200 is a little soft at the extremes, but photos are still plenty usable for personal shots.
If you are interested in the 18-200, you can also save a little money going with a used first-gen VR one rather than the VR II. They use the same vibration reduction technology; the only real difference is a zoom lock at 18mm that I wouldn't use anyway.
