Which lense is better for my Nikon D40? Are either of these two autofocus?

I am looking into buying a new lense for my Nikon D40, though.. I am a very sad photographer so far, because i do not Know what all the words mean. AF-S DX? ED Lens? Okay well, can omeone please explain the two lenses I am listing at the bottom. Please list their pros and cons and so on. I don't want to buy a lense if it does NOT have an autofocus feature, because I am still in the process of learning manual. Thanks. Here they are:

The "D" lens advertised will NOT AutoFocus on a D40, as it has no AF motor inside it. If you want AF on the D40 you want to stick with the Nikkor lenses that have the AF-S or AF-I designation on them, as they do have AF motors inside them. The D40 (and D3000 and D5000) are cameras without AF motors, so their lenses have to have them...
Also it's probably a good idea to stick with Nikkor lenses that also have a DX designation, as these lenses are specially designed for Nikon's DX cropped cameras, such as the D40...

DX type lenses with AF motors in them are becoming more and more available, and you can also now buy them cheaper (with Nikon mounts) from companies like Sigma and Tamron...

DX types are also designated as lenses for cameras with APS-C sensors...........

Good read and gives you a chance in buying new/used what you're looking for. I mostly buy used and have not been disappointed yet.
