Which Lens to Use

Hey everyone!

Going to my local (Montreal, QC) auto show this week and could use some recommendations for which lens to take with me for my D7100...

- 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6
or
- 35mm f/1.8G

Would love to take both, but it's not an option. Either will be used on the stock D7100 with pop-up flash.


Thoughts?

Not a car photographer myself but I assume a wide angle would be needed where cars are parked close together.
Why aren't both an option?

Hey Lawrence,

Don't want to carry around too much gear. Lot of people walking around, get's hot, trying to go camera and lens only, leave my whole "kit" at home. I like to get in and out of the cars a lot, and having too much stuff on me makes it difficult.

18-140mm. For wide angle like everyone else is saying but it will also allow you to do some close-up shots on certain parts of the cars if you feel like it.

Well considering that if you wanted to get in the same range as 35mm.... The 18-140 can be used within that range. The only time you would probably end up needing the prime would be if there are dimly lit areas for the wide aperture, but an autoshow will be so brightly lit you should be ok.
