I might just pack both bodies with the 18-200mm aboard the D7000 and the 24-70mm on the D800. It certainly will be a beautiful marriage of high tech capabilities. <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" /></p></blockquote><p></p>
I know I'm getting into this thread really late but I have the D7000 and I just put the D800 on pre-order. I own a Nikkor 50mm F/1.4D that is designed as an FX lens. I've just ordered the 24-70mm F/2.8 as my goto lens for the new D800. I think those two lenses will allow for some awesomely sharp photos. I find myself shooting a lot of wildlife in the past two years and worry about the moderate focal length of the 24-70. With my D7000 I have an 18-200mm VRII, an 85mm F/3.5 VRII Micro and a fantastic Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8. I may be able to pick my poison if I know my shooting for the day. I might just pack both bodies with the 18-200mm aboard the D7000 and the 24-70mm on the D800. It certainly will be a beautiful marriage of high tech capabilities. :)
