I`m mainly shooting D7000, even if my Sony is taking over slowly. I realise that the D3300 and D5500 are able to surpass the D7000 in some areas. The evolution of the D7X00 will be similar in 4 years to the D500, surpassing it in some areas (sensor based). You have to see the product placement: D3X00 => basic cheap, but good D5X00 => cheap, but lots of features D7X00 => start of semi pro D6X0 => start of semi pro FX D7X0 => top of semi pro D5X0 => start of pro, DX D8X0 => high pixel pro DX => pro for high speed We have already seen that the AF module of the D750 went into the D7200. So some innovations will continue to come through the D5X00 and the semi pro, to get people to upgrade . The pro is loaded with proven technology, not shocking, delivering, the D7X00 seems similar. The D7X00 will come after the D6X0 for serious upgrade, but it will be running 2 years behind the D500 to keep the order reasonably going.
