"Kodachrome
You give us those nice bright colors
You give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah!
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away"

Paul Simon

For those photographers who were clicking away before the digital age (myself included), the end of an era. Kodak has emerged from BK with zero film or photography products.

That is really a shame but they did not read the market correctly and get on board with digital like they should have. They did have a few digital cameras but they were too little too late.

How a company that old could not see the wave of change coming is beyond me. And it isn't like they were completely devoid of innovation. I think there was just no one to rebrand their image (figuratively speaking).

I used to love my Kodak cameras. But Kodak just did not want to seem to change. I think they knew the change was coming, but it seemed more like they thought they could survive just because they were Kodak.

In an age where reinvention is key....they just didn't get it.....

I still keep charged batteries in my Kodak Z981. There are a few photos taken with it that I have a hard time duplicating. I am pretty happy with the photos in my Flickr photostream even knowing that up till 1 1/2 yrs ago they all came from progressively upgraded Kodaks.

Either lead or get out of the way, they chose the later.

I thinks it's a matter of leadership, no one had the vision or the gumption to take the reins and lead them into the digital age.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
