I say we take a poll on whether you should leave sunny warm Florida now or in July when the weather up there is nicer? That's why we go to Syberia-cuse, New York (Syracuse) in July, from the Raleigh-Durham area in July. It's the only weather I can stand. I hate the cold wet springs up that way. Have a great trip though and mount the 80-200 2.8. We did a cross country drive last spring.. .through all the southern states all the way to Grand Canyon, Vegas, El Paso, and San Diego and used a similar lens for my wife to shoot while I drove. Great pictures considering we were moving most of the time.

My timing is dictated by the Cleveland Indians Opening Day date, which is April 4th. So, come rain, sleet, snow, or hail.........

If you are going to a game and plan on taking pictures I just want you to be aware of something. A friend of mine goes to Atlanta all the time and was planning on going to a game and found out that they won't let you in with a lens longer than 5 inches so you might want to check out the rules at the location you are going to.

Thanks for the tip! As a matter of fact, I talked with my ticket rep today to find out if I can bring in a monopod. I knew you couldn't bring in a tripod, but there is no mention of a monopod (though all the pros are using them). The rep did some research, called me back, and told me that a monopod is permissible, as long as it doesn't interfere with any other attendees. I usually take my D5100/55-200 set up and it's always been allowed. Now, the monopod will really help me keep it steady in the lower light long shots.

If I get brave, I may (one day) bring my D800/80-400.

I voted for the 24-85mm. I think is great for landscape and other composition subject. If you see something far away, etc. you can change easily to your great 80-400. I think you will use the 24-85 more often.
