What is this? (pictures inside)

Hey all,

I'm new here and I just bought a brand new Nikon D5200 with its bag today. The bag came with a small yellow cover but for the life of me I can't figure out what it's used for. It can be attached/detached from the bag, and it has two small openings on each side (like the one shown in the 5th picture). I'd be very grateful if anyone can tell me what this thing is.
