Hello all you D610 owners  What are your favourite settings and why ? And why am I asking ? Well I might be getting the D610 and just want to know what others do an I don't mean shutter/aperture stuff I mean user type stuff, U1, U2 , do you add sharpness ect.... I will be shooting RAW and in "M" most of the time ! Cheers Greg

I don't use the User settings at all, though I am contemplating starting as I'd like to concentrate on out of pocket jpegs. For now I have one set for Aperture Priority (most of what I shoot) and the other for Shutter Priority (birds and wildlife) and will be tweaking from there.

I use the User modes, 1 is setup for sports and the other is setup for more general shooting. Just subtle differences. Shoot only raw and sometimes raw+JPEG, don't do any of the in camera sharpening or use ADL. Starting to play with auto-ISO, just haven't saved it to my user settings.

I don't use the U1 or U2 options either. Since you are planning to shoot RAW, please know the sharpness setting affects jpegs, not RAW files. Like BackdoorHippie, I use Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority; however, if I'm in an unusual lighting situation, I will use a handheld meter for an incident meter reading and switch to Manual.

I'd suggest setting the sharpness on the outside chance you *might* want to capture something as a jpeg though.

I use U1 U2. U1 is aperture priority for most of my photos @ ISO 200. U2 is manual at fast speed and high ISO, for moving objects, wild life.
I recently figured out that my lenses are sharpest at F10 so i changed settings to that, other than portraits when i change to biggest aperture.
I was using M before (for 2+ years), it took lots of setting changes for each photo to get optimal results. You should see whats more important to u and use A P modes, they work well for me, i can change exposure fast with the exposure button. Rarely i would use M mode for those special settings.
Happy shooting :)
