What nikon releases is what we can accept or not. they still have some fantastic older lenses that are very much relevant today. I think sometimes we want something we dont really need. my friend with the above luggage is like that. his 14-24/17-35 AFS can do what his wa primes can. Im hoping that sigma read what others say. and im sure to a certain degree they do. whether it affects anything, I doubt it. but its important for them to get an insight to the customers POV. look what MS did with W7. vista bombed and then they put out W7 RC and asked peoples feedback. its one of the reasons its so successful. W8 is a train wreck. me, im still on xp, but I need to move to W7 for SSD and im learning how to edit video now. My mind set is always about getting worth for product and even though i could buy the 85 1.8g and sell my lens for roughly the same price, I wont because ultimately I will suffer. the af will frustrate me to the point I will sell it and get the 1.8D again. the G is sharp as hell and the color rendition is fabulous but I would suffer. its like a Ferrari with a bad clutch. you can drive it but its performance isnt all that. I know myself. its happened before. I want to sell my 70-200VR1 and get a 80-200 AFS again. some stay im stuck in the past glory days. after my gear was stolen, I crashed, debt wise and emotionally wise. I loved the F5/film days. it was glorious. but Im very much enjoying the flexibilty with digital and high ISO. what a treat. I think ill wind up getting the 1.8G as well. bottom line, I think its just a fantastic lens for almost no money. I wanted something a bit sharper than the 1.8d and with less CA. im frustrated because I got sp psyched with the sigma. price is yet to be announced but Im certain its going to be over the top. my line is $600. I have to stay firm. on the bright side, I have $400 more dollars for more slaves and a flash. cheers Glenn.
