Well... I did it!

Since I returned the D5500 I bought last month for a D750, I had three DX lenses to do something with. I tried the 55-300mm DX for some shots of a hawk I saw last week and was not at all happy with the result. Well the three DX lenses made a trip with me to the camera store. They stayed and I came home with the Tamron SP150-600mm. The trade and new rebate made for a great deal. Now if the hawk will just come back.

Check MikeW, he has excellent tips on using that lens for birds which I have found actually apply very well to using that lens in most any situation. It's a great lens, I love mine.

Congratulations you should enjoy it with the D750,you may find your cropping a fair bit with small birds so high shutter speed and f8 or 9 to start with, check for your self if the OS is ok with high shutter speeds but it should be.

One thing i should have said is and it would be great if i could follow my own advice, when light levels drop and its a bit flat try not to go beyond 550/560mm,dont be put off by this as there is a guy on another forum has the Nikon 200 -500 and the Tamron, after testing them he said there is no difference between them at 500mm and the Tamron is still usable in good light up to 600.
