HF is explaning the focus modes to deltablue.
You might be right about this quirk cos it's one odd occurrence in a single camera. I would like to know if all D7100+MB-15 behave like that or it's just mine.

I think he was referring to Post #7 where I explained that the manual for the D7100 clearly states if you enable back-button focus using the AE-L button on the MB-D15 battery grip, half-pressing the shutter button no longer initiates auto-focus. I know the shutter button works that way on some of your other camera bodies, but the manual for the D7100 is pretty clear. I don't think there's a problem with your D7100, I think it's how the D7100 is designed. ....
Thanks! So it was designed like that... I find it totally absurd of them to do this only on the D7100 and not on its predecessors (D90- D7000) nor its successor (D7200)... not to mention its FX cousins...
