DO NOT SHOOT OR POST IMAGES UNTIL WEDNESDAY FEB 15th.
This early announcement of the topic is to give a little think time, before the challenge begins. Photos must be taken and submitted between 00:00 UTC of the start date and 23:59 UTC of the end date.

If the forum EXIF viewer does not show for any reason, listing the camera and capture date/time below the photo is acceptable. Listing exposure info, lens & focal length is encouraged so others can learn.

The Rules

1. Any photo submitted for the Weekly Photo Challenge must be taken using a Nikon Camera! Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by YOU!

2. If the EXIF does not show using a browser EXIF app, listing the camera and capture date/time below the photo is required. Listing exposure info, lens & focal length is encouraged so others can learn.


3. Photos must be posted in this thread to be considered. Links to photos will not be considered an entry (In other words, no Flikr, Photobucket, or similar links)

4. Only one photo entry per member for each week, unless otherwise noted.

5. All regularly active members of Nikonites are allowed to participate, including moderators and administrators.

Voting

During the submission & like periods, please click the Thanks/Like button to vote for your favorite images. You can vote for as many as you want! At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to vote again for the top 3 photos for this challenge!


There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Photo Challenges, unless specifically noted by the site administrator.

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited or straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

What about 15-22 February?

Is it possible, @Needa that you meant to post this challenge for that week, rather than 22-28?

And on a related note, shouldn't the current challenge be 08 to 15, rather than 08-14 as that title says?

Aren't the begin and end dates always a Wednesday? And for that matter, shouldn't the end date for the range that you did state in this thread's title, be 01 March?

It had long been my understanding that each challenge begins and ends at midnight, UTC, on Wednesday; one challenging ending at the same time that the next one begins.

No Bob, it was changed to go to 23:59 UTC Tuesday after you pointed out that it was incorrect to go to 00:00 on the Wednesday. That was quite a while ago. Thanks for keeping us straight.

So, as it stands, there is a period of one minute between the end of one challenge, and the beginning of the next one?

I now have a very faint memory of the previous exchange, but think it was based on some misconception about overlapping time, and about how I spotted some pattern of start and end times that I didn't think made sense. I don't have time right now, but maybe I should go back and look for it later. Perhaps I was thinking differently, then, than I am now, but the way I am thinking now, it makes sense to me that the end time of one challenge ought to be the same as the start time of the following challenge.

And now that I am thinking about that, I think I see what confusion might have arisen by specifying by date, viz, that the end date being a Wednesday (just barely) might be taken to imply that there is any part of Wednesday where it is still valid to submit an entry for the now-ended challenge. I bet that's the basis of the previous discussion.


I guess it's not anything that is really going to create a problem, but specifying the end time only to the minute may imply that anytime within that minute is still a valid time to submit an entry. An entry submitted at 23:59.99 would still be valid, as long as it is submitted before 00:00:00.00, right?
