These are "cave crickets", and are pretty widespread around here. Our cat usually manages to either kill or mangle several a day in our basement and garage, and often brings her trophy and drops them at my feet. Joy. Some of the bigger ones are about the size of small mice - larger, if you count the leg spread. I'm not surprised he goes after them. Anyway, this was one such trophy that I stuck on a metal rod and mounted in dense foam.
