Walked away from another good photo today.

Once again, for reasons, I had to drive off from a photo without trying to take the picture.

We all have done this many times I would assume. I usually feel down for a while because of it.

Today it was a rustic log cabin near a pond that caught my eye as I drove down a back-road on my work travels. It was a pretty scenic valley in the hills of Blue Mounds. I turned the car around and looked at the scene again. There was a steep slope down from the road to the cabin and the only possible safe access would be from much further uphill and hike down. Then there was the whole trespassing problem. It was obviously mowed grass and maintained by a family.

Here is Google street-view screencap. This was the direction I drove past and what caught my eye.

ps: anyone familiar with Wisconsin tourist attractions, this was near Cave of the Mounds, and a longer drive to House On The Rock. Both of which I drove by today.

Glad to hear you decided not to trespass. There are people who don't have any second thoughts about doing so. But with today's cameras, you just never know. Looks like it would have been a terrific scene. Maybe consider asking them for permission sometime?

I fully agree, it's a sad fact that there are some folk that will trample over all social norms to get 'their' shot, but I'm convinced there are no such specie on this forum. :)

I've made the same choice a number of times with decades of railroad photography, recognizing repercussions from trespassing or recognition of safety risk when the only spot is too close to the tracks and I have no immediate exit route. It's indeed frustrating to give up a shot, but it shows good judgement and the tradeoff is a better day.
