Waiting On A Friend

As I walked through town yesterday I spotted this cat that wanted so badly to run the minute I raised my camera. I'm glad it didn't. I managed 3 different captures before it left. I like each for a different reason, and I have one that I like more than the others, but was curious on how others felt?

I like 1 and 3 for different reasons, nice shots! I really like the colors of the siding and brick. I like 3 as it does not have the unsymetrical pillars so it is more balanced in my opinion. I like #1 one because the cat is looking away and does not seem phased at that point.

I think the series would have benefited from a straight on perpendicular shot including both pillars (in totality) and more of the wood above the door to frame the entire scene. I'm very mathematical so I really like symetry, I'm a bit obsessed with such things.

If the third one was straightened a bit, I'd pick that one.

Alas, that's more an illusion of angle than anything that can be straightened. Believe me, that's something that makes me nuts in my photos and others. For some reason the angle of the camera to the house is more evident in the vertical photo, but they're all taken the same way. I suppose there are just more horizontal lines to bring your eye to it. I just couldn't get that extra step to the right without the cat bolting.

#1. It captures the mail waiting to be picked up, plus the anticipation the cat has on maybe its owner is coming down the street right now.

I like #1. Appears the cat may be really waiting for someone/something, and is reacting to someone/something approaching. All good captures, the other two look like maybe the cat was sunning itself...sees you, and ready to bolt.

Plus, I can smell fresh bread being baked in that one...:saturn:

Unfortunately, the rooming house is a bit of a hole, and everything to the right of the photo would have killed symmetry even more. I could definitely go square or some other perspective other than the original and build the symmetry into the photo. I tend not to crop that way, but do agree that it works better.
