Congratulations. Great photo.
I think your photo was much better, I love your macro photography. I went today and tried to get some insects. I am trying to remember the free program I was using to stack photos. When I got my new computer I forgot to put it back on the new one, drats. I think it had the acronym of ICE, but for the life of me I can not remember the name of it. Do you have any suggestions, my camera won't stack in camera. I am still using a Nikon D810.

Thanks. I sort of liked my caption a little better, but your photo was definitely the superior. Remember, this is a photography forum, not a writing forum. ;)

I use Photoshop for my stacking, so I'm not much help there. I don't use focus stacking that often, however. I do try and keep my aperture at F16 - F22. Since I use flash for almost all my macro work, that isn't a big problem. The Godox TT685 has enough power to get me these apertures, even at ISO 100. When F22 isn't enough, and the subject is still, I will often take a series of handheld shots at progressive focus points. I sometimes have issues with PS not handling them properly. Not sure if it's PS's fault, or that I don't have enough overlap in focusing. I know that at least on some occasions, it's PS not masking properly.

Do an internet search for free focus stacking software and see if something rings a bell.
