viewfinder problems

That is odd. It looks like the aperture blades in the lens. But you should not be able to see them. Even if the lens were broke and the aperture was closed down, you should still not see the circle, the view should just should just look darker.

So I'm wondering... Just a wild guess.... Is there a focusing screen in the camera? Take the lens off and look to the top inside. There should be a small matte screen up top.

When you focus through the viewfinder, you are looking at the focusing screen. The image from the lens, bounced off the mirror, is then projected onto the focusing screen. The viewfinder views this screen from its back side. I'm just guessing, but if that screen were missing, you MIGHT see a circle like that because you would just be viewing a reflection the backside of the lens rather than the focused image projected on the focus screen.

How does the actually photo look when you take the photo and transfer it to the computer. That will tell us a little more. But you are correct, you should not be seeing this through the viewfinder. Also how does it look in LiveView?
