Vacation time

The wife and I are planning a trip to Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park sometime in September and are looking at visiting some or all of these places.

For those who have been what are some of the thing I should be looking for. One thing I was wondering was which lens would you think I would be using the most? I was thinking it would probably be the 11-16 to get all those incredible views in. My wife has the 18-200 so I am hoping that will keep her happy. Any other advice on certain areas you think might fit me well will be appreciated keeping in mind my limited mobility and short walking distances.
Right now we are planing on flying into Salt Lake sometime near the 1st of September and traveling down to Moab and using that as our base to stay in. Right now we are planning on staying at least 3 weeks. I hope we can do/see all we want in that time.

I you know good (read cheap) motels in that area let me know that too. A clean place to sleep and hopefully WIFI is about all we need.

Any members that live in that area drop your name in the comments too. Would be fun to meet some of you.

Moab Diner - Inexpensive diner food. Generally pretty good food. In the middle of town on the east side.

City Market - Grocery store in the middle of town and they have gas. Although the Maverick convenience/gas store tends to be cheapest on gas. On the east side of the road.

Moab Brewery - Great place for dinner. Food is average to above average. One of our typical dinner haunts as everyone can find something. They also have a micro-brewery. South end of town west side of road.

McDonalds and Burger King - West side of the road on the south end of the town.

Wendys - East side of the road towards the north end of town.

Big Horn Lodge - Free Wifi. South end of town on the west side of the road. They are about average accommodations and average cost. Depending on whether September is off-season, the prices really drop. Then just before Easter Jeep Safari in the spring they jump up something fierce.

Wide lenses are great. There is not much in the way of spotting wildlife.

I'm so jealous. We were there a long time ago, when I wasn't into photography. I wish I could go back now and take the shots.

Out of those places that you are going to, I loved Bryce Canyon the most followed by Arches. Spent the night in Moab but can't remember that far back as to where.

Enjoy it, you'll love it. Make sure you come back with some awesome sunset shots .

My favorite place in the US on 2-wheels is Torrey, UT, just to the west of Capitol Reef National Park. Easy access down to Bryce Canyon from there, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and a scenic trip down to the north rim of the Grand Canyon if you're up for a longer drive.

Lisa hasn't been there before, so I'm itching to get back out that way and bring a real camera with me ... rather than the Pentax point and shoot that I limited myself to while on the motorcycle.

don, my 2 cents. Fly into salt lake or vegas and leave by the other. 3 weeks is enough time
for this trip. Salt lake - moab - torrey - bryce - kanab - grand canyon village $$$ -
las vagas. 3 nights in each town and 1 day travel between each = < 30 days.
Budget :) forget it.
Lens, take all u got, 11-300mm.
Question pm me.
