Hello - I am a new member to the forum, and have perhaps a strange question. I am a confirmed Nikon user (D800E etc) but for one application am using a Canon camera with the MP65 macro lens. I want use my SB 800 on the top to fire two SB R200 flashes. I have isolated the hot shoe contacts to allow just the central one to fire. I have set up the SB 800 to trigger the R200's but get a significant delay between firing the SB800, and the R200s firing. Any ideas please? Perhaps my settings on the SB800 are wrong. Any guidance gratefully received!
Thank you

I do not have the SB-R200, but would point out the R1C1 manual section on page 109, Re: "Flash using SLR cameras NOT compatible with CLS". One specific, the SC-30 cable is required.

Manual: Speedlight R1C1, R1, SU-800, SB-R200 Instruction Manual. | Nikon Knowledgebase

The SB-800 should make a very compatible CLS commander, but I have no knowledge about if it has the same "non-compatible" compatibiilty as the SU-800. I doubt the SC-30 cable is compatible? The Nikon site says the SC-30 is compatible with the SU-800

Many thank for your reply. In order to cut down on variables I have been trying to get the S800 to trigger the R200s on a D800, and there is still a significant delay (approx. 2 seconds). Very strange!

Do you see the same delay with just the camera, with no flash gear attached?

The common cause of shutter delay is the Exposure Delay, menu D10. Also the self timer on.

Or with flash, the Red Eye Reduction in the flash sync menu.

It happens both when the flash is on a Nikon body (no delay or redeye correction set) and when I hold the flash in my hand, and press the flash button.

Sorry, I don't know why then. I do have a couple of SB-800, and I cannot imagine any delay in any situation, other than those introduced by the camera menu options.
